Hi there! My name is Meg, and I’m the owner and blogger here at Budget Sustainability. I’ve been interested in ethical or sustainable living since I interned at an online shopping platform for fair trade companies a few years back. During that time, I learned a lot about the ethical fashion movement and its emphasis on human rights and animal cruelty. Realizing that slaves made almost all our clothes and goods was a huge wake up call for me. I wanted to commit myself to living without mainstream fashion products and only buy items I knew were ethically made.
But I also learned that ethical fashion and ethically made products aren’t necessarily cheap. In fact, the average cost of an item can be anywhere from $50 to $400 because of fair wages and sourcing ethically produced materials. So how would Millennials, Gen Z’s out of high school, and other people on a tight budget live a sustainable lifestyle.
That’s why I created Budget Sustainability, to help folks like myself learn more about fast fashion and its substitutes. I’ll show inexpensive alternatives to higher end ethical fashion companies, including affordable ethical fashion brands. And I’ll introduce easy ways to live sustainably that can actually save you money.
Living a sustainable lifestyle is so important in today’s society. And being able to say you helped make the world a better place is super rewarding. I hope you’ll take the time to read through my blog and learn more about the sustainable lifestyle movement.
